Federal criminal records are violations of federal law or crimes committed on federal property then recorded in US Federal District Courts. The number of districts in each state varies, but each state has at least one. A federal criminal records search provides criminal filings in any of the nation's 300 plus Federal District Courts. While there are fewer filings of federal criminal records they generally involve very serious offenses such as embezzlement, robbery, drug trafficking or kidnapping. Federal criminal records can be searched by name only and federal criminal records search may reveal records, which require further research to confirm the identity of the parties involved. As federal criminal records do not appear in state or county court record searches, federal records are searched via the applicable federal district.
